Telangana gram panchayat polls: Voters form long queues in chilly weather in Adilabad
Voters braved chilly morning conditions as polling progressed steadily across 439 panchayats in the erstwhile Adilabad district on Thursday. More than 7,300 candidates are contesting for Sarpanch and ward seats, with turnout crossing 40% in most districts by noon.

Adilabad: Despite the chilly weather, electors formed long queues to cast their votes as polling progressed smoothly for 439 panchayats notified for the first phase across the erstwhile Adilabad district on Thursday.
Voting commenced in 133 panchayats of Adilabad district, 81 villages in Mancherial, 119 panchayats in Nirmal and 106 villages of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district. As many as 1,656 contestants are in the fray for the post of Sarpanch. A total of 5,695 candidates are contesting in 1,865 wards going to the polls in the four districts.
Electors formed long queue lines from 7 am, braving the cold that prevailed in several parts of Adilabad and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts. Adilabad registered 40.37 percent voting, while Kumram Bheem Asifabad recorded 58.71 percent polling. Mancherial and Nirmal saw 48.87 percent and 53.27 percent voting, respectively, officials said.
