Contract healthcare workers staged a dharna at the Directorate of Medical Education in Hyderabad on Thursday, demanding timely payment of salaries and fulfilment of the State government’s pre-poll promise to raise wages to Rs 26,000 per month.
Contract health care workers in Telangana will hold dharnas from December 2 to 4 and a Maha Dharna on December 5 demanding higher pay. The workers say they receive less than the promised salary and want new rules to ensure fair wages.
To demand their fair share of salaries, over 2,000 members of the medical contract association will take part in ‘Chalo DME’ and a protest meeting at the Director of Medical Education (DME) office, on July 3.
