The Congress government in Telangana is preparing to present the 2026–27 State Budget with an estimated outlay of Rs 3.2–3.25 lakh crore. Despite financial constraints, the Budget is expected to prioritise welfare schemes, education, health, irrigation, and infrastructure projects.
The Congress government had delivered only Rs.3,003 crore budget for minority welfare whereas it promised a budget of Rs 4,000 crore earlier, says BRS leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail
The budget outlines that Rs.69,572.48 crore will be raised through various forms of debt. This amount equals to half of the State's own tax revenue estimated at Rs.1,38,181.26 crore and highlights the growing dependency on borrowing.
