The count of active COVID-19 cases in the country has increased to 40,215, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday.

According to Union health ministry data updated on Friday the active COVID-19 cases now comprise 0.06 per cent of the total infections.

According to Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday the total tally of Covid cases was at 4.47 crore (4,47,26,246).

The daily positivity was recorded at 2.73 per cent, while the weekly positivity was pegged at 1.71 per cent.

Last year on October 28, 2022 a total of 2,208 cases were recorded.The daily positivity was recorded at 1.51 per cent, while the weekly positivity was pegged at 1.53 per cent.

The country had recorded 2,208 cases in a single day on October 28 last year.

According to the Union Health Ministry data the daily COVID-19 cases in India is highest in 140 days.

The country's COVID-19 death toll has increased to 5,30,806, with four latest fatalities -- two reported by Rajasthan, one by Karnataka and one death reconciled by Kerala.

A total of 618 new coronavirus cases were reported in a span of 24 hours while the death toll climbed to 5,30,789 with five deaths.

In the same period, 12 Covid-related deaths took the national fatalities tally to 5,28,999.

The recovery of 4,676 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,39,67,340. Consequently, the recovery rate stands at 98.71 per cent.

The new fatalities raised the overall death toll to 5,28,185.

The death toll climbed to 5,27,991 with 26 fatalities which includes five deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.
