India has been elected to the UN Human Rights Council for the 2026–28 term, its seventh stint on the 47-member body. The victory underscores New Delhi’s continued commitment to promoting global human rights and fundamental freedoms.
The first secretary of Permanent Mission of India to the UN, Pawan Kumar Badhe said this in India's right of reply to statements made by Pakistan and the OIC under oral update by the high commissioner of human rights at UNHRC.
