The United States has updated its travel advisory for mainland China, warning citizens of arbitrary law enforcement, exit bans, surveillance, and risks of unjust detention. The Level 2 advisory urges Americans to exercise increased caution, citing broad national security laws, digital monitoring, and potential targeting of individuals with US government, business, or law enforcement ties.
The new proclamation, which Trump signed on Wednesday, applies to citizens of Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
