KC Venugopal said that the "brutal gangrape and murder of a Dalit girl" from Hathras in Uttar Pradesh has shaken the conscience of the nation.

The Congress leader said that according to the family, the Hathras DM meted out the worst treatment to them, and asked who was protecting the officer.
