Nirmal: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy asserted that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was striving hard for realizing what people dreamed of in 2001. He along with Indrakaran Reddy inaugurated a power substation at Bopparam village in Soan mandal on Sunday. The estimated cost of the 400/200 kv facility was Rs 1,160 crore.

Addressing a gathering, Jagadish Reddy said that the route map, which was drawn for the development of the State which was readied during the Telangana movement, was now being implemented. As part of the map, uninterrupted quality power was being supplied to agricultural needs for free soon after TRS assumed the power. No state was extending the facility, he stated.

The minister ridiculed that the government led by BJP was not implementing electricity for free either in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. Many heckled that Telangana would be in dark if a new state was carved. But, today, we are leading the country in consumption of power. A total of 50 welfare schemes are being implemented in Telangana. The credit goes to K Chandrasekhar Rao, he remarked.

“Rao, who masters the art of administration, is the driving force of the schemes and developmental activities. He introduced first of its kind Kalyana Laxmi, Raithu Bandhu, Raithu Bheema, KCR Kits, Amma Odi, etc for the welfare of all sections of the society. Telangana is witnessing outstanding progress on many facets,” Jagadish opined.

Due to able governance of Rao , Telangana has become a rice bowl of the country. A total of 60 lakh tonnes of grains were purchased, setting a record. The remaining states procured 30 lakh tonnes of grains. As many as 5 crore metric tonnes of maize produce is ready as against the country’s requirement of 2.5 crore metric tonnes, he added

Indrakaran Reddy said that the government was taking steps for ensuring supply of quality power to agriculture, domestic and industrial needs. The power substation was created as part of the steps. A slew of measures were taken for addressing various challenges faced in the past. For instance, the low-voltage problem was resolved and outages of electricity were reduced, he added.

The minister regretted that the agrarian community would register losses in farming due to the new Agriculture Bill introduced by the Union government. Prime Minister Narender Modi who is at the helm of affairs, was bringing anti-farmer policies, he alleged.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson K Vijayalaxmi, Collector Mohd Musharraf Ali Faruqui and officials of NPDCL were present.
