Tension prevailed in Khammam after families displaced from Velugumatla staged a protest on Wyra Road following police action against a hunger strike. Several women were injured in the melee. BJP leader N Ramachander Rao later met the affected families
Khammam Collector Anudeep Durisetty said the demolitions on Bhoodan lands in Velugumatla were legal and carried out as per court orders. He stated that land worth over Rs.250 crore was saved and action was taken against illegal occupants
