Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla urged universities to prioritise skill development, academic reforms, and employability. He stressed industry collaboration and full implementation of the National Education Policy during a meeting with Vice-Chancellors and higher education officials.

During the meeting, he said that the State government was ready to allocate necessary funds for the improvement of education standards in the universities

As Telangana Governor is chancellor of the State universities, the government is worried it might lose authority to appoint VCs

As the earlier VCs demitted their offices on May 21, the government set up search committee for each of 10 universities in the last week of May.
