Tension prevailed in Akividu town of West Godavari district after police detained leaders of Hindu organisations attempting to rally for the construction of a Ram temple at a disputed site. Prohibitory orders were imposed, and additional forces deployed to prevent gatherings.
The incident occurred on the national highway at Mogalthur on Wednesday, police said. A Bolero van, which was on its way to Narsapuram from Machilipatnam, lost control and fell into an agriculture field where MGNREGA workers were engaged in work.
"Mutyala Raju Revu, West Godavari District Collector and District Magistrate, is transferred and posted as the Additional Secretary to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister," said Chief Secretary Adityanath Das.
