As per a report by WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a new feature which will allow users to lock chats using a passcode or fingerprint. This will enhance the privacy of users by avoiding the risk of confidential and sensitive information being leaked.
The WhatsApp policy has now been put on hold till May 15. It aims to share commercial user data with parent Facebook. The Indian government has also written a letter to WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart to withdraw the policy.
The Delhi High Court observed that WhatsApp is responding to the question raised by the Central Government, and thereafter adjourned the matter for March 1 for further hearing.
In a communication sent to Minister for Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad, CAIT has demanded that the government should immediately restrict WhatsApp from implementing the new policy or put a ban on WhatsApp and its parent company Facebook.
