The Yoga Federation of India (YFI) will seek fresh recognition from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and restoration of its Indian Olympic Association affiliation after the Delhi High Court ordered a fresh recognition process for the National Sports Federation for Yogasana.
The inaugural World Yogasana Championship 2026 was officially unveiled in New Delhi. Scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad from June 4 to 8, the event will feature athletes from over 60 nations as India pushes for global recognition of Yogasana as a competitive sport
As part of the preparations, the official selection trials for the Indian National Yogasana Team were conducted on May 1 and 2, 2026, at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre in Sonepat, Haryana.
