Hyderabad: The BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar threatened to lay siege to the office of Director-General of Police in Lakdi-ka-Pul here to protest against the alleged indiscriminate lathi-charge by Jangaon Circle Inspector (CI) D Mallesh on Jangaon Town BJP president Pawan Sharma and others on Tuesday.
A case should be booked against the CI and if the department failed to take action against him, the BJP would stage a protest demanding necessary action against the CI, he said. The Jangaon police caned BJP activists led by Sharma when they staged a protest before the municipal commissioner’s office for removing the party’s banners put up on the occasion of National Youth Day.
Reacting to the alleged police lathi-charge, MLA T Raja Singh condemned the “high-handedness” of the police. “When senior officials are focusing on providing people-friendly policing, the Jangaon police unnecessarily used force against our party activists,” he said.
