Take relief measures on war-footing: Bandi urges govt
In a statement here on Wednesday, he alleged that the government failed to alert the administration and the general public despite warnings by the weather department about the impending disaster
Hyderabad: State BJP president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar has demanded that the State government initiate relief measures on a war-footing to alleviate the problems faced by the people because of heavy rains. He attributed the inundation of residential areas in Hyderabad in particular to lack of permanent solution to the drainage problem.
In a statement here on Wednesday, he alleged that the government failed to alert the administration and the general public despite warnings by the weather department about the impending disaster. While urging the citizens to stay at home and not to venture out, he demanded the government to provide relief to families marooned in flood waters. He also directed BJP cadres to take up relief measures on a large scale. He said that party workers must bring to the notice of authorities concerned about problems in their localities.
Expressing concern over the prevailing situation in Hyderabad city, he said that the government must initiate steps to put a stop to the recurrent problem of floods nagging the capital city. He demanded compensation of Rs 20 lakh to those whose houses collapsed in the deluge.
