Karimnagar: District Collector RV Karnan on Thursday instructed officials to take adequate measures to prevent Omicron cases in the district.
The Collector was speaking at a review meeting with medical, health, municipal and panchayat raj officials to discuss the steps to be taken to prevent cases in the district.
Instructing the officials to enhance Covid tests in the district, he advised Medical and Health Department officials to administer Covid vaccine in high risk areas by deploying mobile teams. He informed that 84 per cent of people were given double dose of vaccine so far, and urged the officials to complete 100 per cent vaccination by month end.
Health officials in coordination with MPDOs and MPOs should identify people who did not take double dose of vaccine by conducting door to door surveys in rural areas and administer vaccine to them, he said.
Since the new variant was spreading rapidly, everybody must wear face masks both inside their house and outside as well. There is a possibility for the spread of the virus in the festival season. So, everybody must be alert and maintain physical distance. Police personnel would impose fines on the people moving without wearing face masks, he said.
People suffering with cold, cough and fever must undergo Covid test by visiting nearby Primary Health Centers, he advised and instructed health officials to conduct Covid tests to family members and primary contacts of Covid patients.
He wanted the authorities to make arrangements in hospitals to provide necessary treatment to Covid patients besides arranging beds, injections and other medicines.
Stating that there was no shortfall of oxygen in both government and private hospitals, he informed that an oxygen generator plant was set up in the district headquarters hospital.
Advising health officials to coordinate with district drug inspector, he wanted the officials to ensure that there is no shortfall of medicines.
Staff of all municipalities must take double doses of vaccine, he said and instructed commissioners to intensify sanitation works.
