Khammam: In the wake of increase in number of cases of Covid-19 its variants Omicron and Delta, the district administration should fully be equipped to handle the situation, suggested Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar.

The minister held a meeting with the district officials here on Tuesday to review the measures being taken to contain the spread of Covid and its variants cases. He asked the public to strictly adhere to Covid protocols such as wearing face masks and maintaining physical distance.

Ajay Kumar said the Covid cases were on the rise as the locals travelled to other places and came back to their homes in this festival season. The medical and health department should supply home isolation kits to individuals who were tested positive to the Covid.

Special officers have been appointed for monitoring Covid vaccination in border mandals. The ZP CEO Appa Rao was appointed as special officer for Yerrupalem mandal and for Mudigonda Wyra ACP, Sneha Mehra was appointed.

The minister asked the officials to speed up the Covid vaccination process in Khammam Urban, Mudigonda and Yerrupalem mandals and see that every eligible person gets the vaccination shot.

Around 10.60 lakh persons received Covid vaccine first dose and 9.13 lakh persons received the second dose. Steps must be taken to ensure 100 percent coverage in administering the vaccine second dose, Ajay Kumar said.

District Collector VP Gautham informed that all concerned departments have been put on alert to stop the spread of Covid and its variants. A special drive would be taken to administer the second dose vaccine to all eligible persons.

Referring to implementation of Dalit Bandhu in Chintakani mandal in the district minister told concerned officials to complete the process of beneficiaries selection at the earliest. The special officers in each village should be ready with the list of units selected by the beneficiaries.

The special officers team has to visit Huzurabad in Karimnagar district to study the steps taken by the officials in the implementation of the scheme. Bankers have to be consulted to open a separate bank account for Dalit Bandhu, Ajay Kumar suggested.
