Take stern action against doctors skipping duty without notice, HM tells Gandhi Hospital officials

The Health Minister, who made a surprise visit to Gandhi Hospital, inspected the outpatient facilities and interacted with patients. Later, he also inspected the attendance register to ascertain the presence of doctors.

Hyderabad: Health Minister, Damodar Raja Narasimha on Tuesday directed officials at Gandhi Hospital to take strict disciplinary action and serve show cause notices on doctors who were absent from their regular duties, without any prior notice.

The Health Minister, who made a surprise visit to Gandhi Hospital, inspected the outpatient facilities and interacted with patients. Later, he also inspected the attendance register to ascertain the presence of doctors.


The Minister expressed unhappiness over the absence of Professors, Associate and Assistant Professors at inpatient wards and outpatient wing. He directed hsopital superintendent Dr Rajkumari to serve show cause notices to the doctors who were absent from their regular duties at IP and OP health care facilities.

Later, the Health Minister also visited the hospital inpatient wards, Mother and Child Health (NCH) centre, diagnostic services and patient recovery wards and noted down grievances from patients and their relatives and directed the hospital staff to provide quick redressal.

The Health Minister urged the Superintendent to conduct frequent inspections to maintain quality in health care services.
