Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy appealed to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) to handle the Central government’s plan to take up delimitation of constituencies cautiously. If the delimitation was taken up on population basis, it would result in injustice to the Southern States. The AICC had to handle this issue very strategically and initiate measures cautiously, he said at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting being held at Belgavi in Karnataka.

As the Women’s Reservation, which was introduced during the Congress tenure, was nearing a logical conclusion, there was every possibility of BJP cashing on the development and implement reservations according to its favour. The Congress has to act strategically on this aspect and campaign rigorously, he stressed.

The Chief Minister said that Telangana had emerged as a role model for the nation by conducting the caste census. As the Central government was proposing to take up census, demand should be made to take up caste census as well, he insisted.

To this effect, the CWC should pass a resolution and send it to the Central government for consideration, he stressed. Based on the Chief Minister’s appeal, the CWC passed a unanimous resolution.
