Tanay Thyagarajan’s 50 powers Hyderabad past J&K in Kolkata

Hyderabad: Tanay Thyagarajan scored a brisk 50 to help Hyderabad beat Jammu and Kashmir by four wickets in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 match in Kolkata. With this win, Hyderabad now tops the Group B table with 16 points.
Left-arm spinner Nitin Sai Yadav bagged three wickets while Milind returned figures of 3/31 to restrict Jammu and Kashmir to 112 all out in 19.3 overs. Chasing the modest target, Hyderabad were reeling at 38/4 as Tanmay, Aman, Simha and Rahul Buddhi fell cheaply. However, Pragnay Reddy (31) and Thyagarajan (50 off 33 balls) guided Hyderabad to victory.
In another Group B match, Bhuvneshwar Kumar helped Uttar Pradesh register a 40-run win over Chandigarh. The 35-year-old seasoned bowler returned excellent figures of 3/23 in four overs to restrict Chandigarh to 172/8 after UP posted a competitive 212/7 at Eden Gardens. Sameer Rizvi top-scored for UP with a blistering 70 off 42 balls, while opener Madhav Kaushik struck 67 off 41 balls.
