Hyderabad: Tanmay Agarwal’s second consecutive ton (137, 61b, 11×4, 10×6) led Karimnagar Diamonds to a 75-run victory against Ranga Reddy Risers in Sreenidhi University TG20 league at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium here on Thursday.
With this result, the Diamonds will face the losers of the game Qualifier 1 between Hyderabad E-Champions and Anvita Khammam Aces, in Qualifier 2 on Friday.
Tanmay led from the front with a sensational 137 off 61 balls, including eleven fours and ten sixes. The century also propels him to the top of the Orange Cap standings with 465 runs to his name.
Hrishikesh Simha (50, 28b, 5×4, 2×6) also played his part with a half-century, helping their side post 238/7. In response, half-centuries from Tanay Thyagarajann and Nitin Sai Yadav went in vain as Ashish Srivastav’s five-wicket haul secured a 75-run win for Diamonds.
The Diamonds skipper then combined with Hrishikesh Simha for a stellar 139-run stand off 69 balls – the second-highest partnership for the second wicket in the tournament. Hrishikesh scored his half-century in 27 balls, as the pair scored 76 runs in seven overs.
Tanmay’s brilliance helped Diamonds score 238 for seven in 20 overs.
Risers suffered early blows and was struggling at 29 for two in three overs and lost wickets at regular intervals.
With half their side back in the dugout, Tanay and Nitin Sai Yadav held the innings together in the middle overs. The two added 48 runs in 24 deliveries, with the former notching his half-century in 26 balls. His knock included four fours and five sixes as he kept his side in the contest.
Shubham Sharma returned to dent Risers’ hopes, bringing an end to Tanay’s electric 33-ball 63 in the 12th over. Apart from Nitin scoring 50 in 30 balls, no other Risers’ batter had a notable impact in the lower order as they were bundled out for 163.
