Hyderabad: Left-hander Tanmay Agarwal (71) shone with the willow to star in Sporting XI’s 21-run win over Cambridge XI in the quarterfinals of the HCA Nawab MAK Pataudi T20 Tiger Cup on Monday.
Batting first, Sporting XI posted a good 179/5 in 20 overs. Apart from Tanmay’s knock, Rakesh made 36 while Himalaya Agarwal struck 31. In reply, Cambridge reached 158/8 in 20 overs. Maratha Dhanush (47) top scored for Cambridge. Medium-pacer Karthikeya Kak scalped three wickets for Sporting XI.
In the other quarterfinal, Evergreen raced off to a ten-wicket win over Mahmood in a low-scoring match. Mahmeed were bundled out for 45 in 13.4 overs. Left arm spinner G Aniketh Reddy claimed 3 for 6. Rahul Buddhi rattled up an unbeaten 33 in Evergreen’s easy chase.
In the semifinals, Sporting XI meet Deccan Chronicle while Gemini Friends clash with Evergreen.
