Tanmay, Tilak Varma hit tons in Hyderabad’s narrow win

After posting a mammoth 345/6 in 50 overs, Hyderabad managed to hold Goa for 343/5 in 50 overs

Hyderabad: Captain and opener Tanmay Agarwal slammed 150 (131; 19×4, 1×6) and promising youngster Thakur Tilak Varma scored 128 (127; 9×4, 5×6) as Hyderabad ended their campaign with a narrow two-run victory over Goa in the final league match of the Group A at Surat on Sunday.

After posting a mammoth 345/6 in 50 overs, Hyderabad managed to hold Goa for 343/5 in 50 overs. Invited to bat, Hyderabad began brilliantly as openers Tanmay and Tilak Varma added 264 runs in 41.3 overs. In the big chase, Goa lost Vaighav Govekar early in the sixth over. But KD Eknath hit an unbeaten 169 (143; 19×4, 2×6) and Snehal Kauthankar added 116 (112; 15×4) to lay a strong foundation. However, Goa, requiring four off the final delivery off Rakshann, managed just one run.

With this win, Hyderabad finished the points table at the third place with three wins from five matches.
