Tax reforms must boost jobs, MSMEs along with investment: BRS MP Ravichandra

BRS Parliamentary Party leader Vaddiraju Ravichandra urged the Centre to ensure tax reforms promote domestic manufacturing, jobs and MSME growth. Participating in a Rajya Sabha debate, he sought stronger support for Telangana in industrial and infrastructure policies

Hyderabad: BRS Parliamentary Party leader Vaddiraju Ravichandra said tax reforms should not be confined to attracting investments but must also promote domestic manufacturing, employment generation and the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). He urged the Centre to strengthen support for farmers, industries and MSMEs, and accord Telangana appropriate priority in future industrial and infrastructure policies.

Participating in the Rajya Sabha debate on the Taxes and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, on Monday, Ravichandra said the proposed measures aimed to bring greater clarity to taxation relating to foreign investments, electronics, manufacturing, real estate investment and infrastructure investment trusts, besides easing business operations.

He stressed that tax reforms should ensure equity, transparency and stability for taxpayers. He suggested that tax concessions and incentives should be linked to measurable outcomes such as actual investment, jobs created and technology transfer.

Ravichandra called for greater support to States such as Telangana, which have a strong presence in electronics, pharmaceuticals, IT and advanced manufacturing. He said domestic MSMEs faced high compliance costs, limited access to finance and market uncertainties, and urged the Centre to reduce their compliance burden.

He also suggested periodic impact assessments of tax concessions, with Parliament being informed about revenue foregone, investment generated and employment created through such incentives.
