Hyderabad: Telangana Cricket Association general secretary Guruva Reddy said they had issued legal notices to film actor Vijay Deverakonda, businessman Venkatesh Naidu, former India cricketer Ambati Rayudu, and Indian cricketers Mohammed Siraj and Tilak Varma for their association with the TG20 League.
“Under BCCI regulations, promoting or participating in an unauthorised cricket league can have serious consequences. Before agreeing to promote the TG20 League, did these celebrities and cricketers verify whether the event had received BCCI approval? Did HCA provide them with any documentary evidence of such approval?” Reddy questioned.
He further alleged that the promotion of an unapproved league could mislead young cricketers and stakeholders across Telangana and called upon all promoters and endorsers to publicly clarify the basis on which they associated themselves with the event.
According to Guruva Reddy, BCCI regulations require any State Cricket Association intending to conduct a commercial T20 league to get its Governing Council elected at an Annual General Body Meeting and obtain prior approval from the Board at least 45 days before the tournament.
