TCA seeks CID probe into TG20 league

Hyderabad: The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) has formally approached the Telangana CID seeking immediate registration of an FIR, freezing of TG20-related bank accounts and assets, and a comprehensive forensic investigation into the financial and administrative affairs surrounding the controversial TG20 League.

The complaint comes in the wake of the Telangana Lokayukta’s directions ordering a time-bound CID probe into the financial affairs and banking operations of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).

“At the heart of this controversy lies a simple but disturbing question: Is TG20 a platform created for Telangana’s talented cricketers, or has it become a playground for the privileged and the powerful? Cricket in India has always been a sport where merit defeated influence and talent defeated background,” Mr. Guruva Reddy, TCA Secretary, said.

” However, TG20 increasingly appears to symbolize a system where access, proximity to power, and influence matter more than performance on the field. Young cricketers across Telangana are asking whether their dreams have been auctioned away to a select few,” he said.

“The TCA is deeply concerned by reports that more than ₹46.15 crore has been mobilized through TG20-linked operations while fundamental questions remain unanswered,” he said.

“If all procedures have been followed, why are the approvals, resolutions, agreements, and ownership details not being placed transparently before the courts and the public?,” Guruva Reddy questioned.
