Vijayawada: BJP state president Somu Veerraju on Tuesday said that both the previous Telugu Desam Party and the present YSR Congress Party governments had failed to develop the Andhra Pradesh state.

Addressing the ‘Prajagraha’ meeting here, he launched a broadside against the state government and said the state could achieve some development only with Central funds and YSRC stickers were pasted to the schemes of the Centre. “Only our party can show Jagan what it looks like. Why should we fear? Did we ever go to prison, or will we go there in the future? These leaders are keen on amassing wealth. Our party is the only one known for simplicity in politics. The Centre is developing many highways in the state. If the BJP comes to power, there will be all-round development in Andhra Pradesh,” he stated.

He said that the meeting was being held to resent the attitude of the state government. The BJP should come to power in the next elections, he felt.

On the special category status, Veerraju said that it was under the purview of the Niti Ayog and Chandrababu should be questioned first as to why he did not want it. He also alleged that the state was selling away everything and it was the BJP which was still protecting the Visakhapatnam steel plant. The Rs.3,000 crore loss incurred by the steel plant was still being borne by the Centre, he said.
