Amaravati: Leaders and workers of the Telugu Desam Party and the ruling YSR Congress Party jostled in front of TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu’s residence in Undavalli near here on Friday morning, leading to police using mild force to control the situation.
Police also took into custody the YSRCP MLA Jogi Ramesh who organised a protest in front of the main entrance against the remarks of senior TDP leader Ch Ayyanna Patrudu at memorial meeting of former Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, which triggered the clash.
Ramesh alleged that it was Chandrababu who instigated Patrudu to use unparliamentary language against Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy and therefore, should apologise unconditionally.
Learning about the YSRCP protest, several TDP leaders who included MLA Gadde Rammohan, Buddha Venkanna and Pattabhi, reached Chandrababu’s residence and there were frayed tempers, and the TDP supporters pelted stones to smash the windshield of Ramesh’s car .
The TDP leaders alleged that the police, instead of taking action against the YSRCP leaders, encouraged the latter to attack them.
