Adilabad: A teacher and the management of a private school were booked on charges of giving corporal punishment to a student in Boath town on Friday.
Police said that a case was registered against the teacher and the management of Vedam School for mercilessly beating a nursery student from Kuchulapur village based on a complaint received from parents.
The teacher in question was seen indiscriminately thrashing, slapping and beating the student with a stick for eight minutes on Thursday. Her indifference act was recorded on a CCTV camera. She even twisted the ears of the boy. A video clip of the incident went viral on social media platforms on Friday, prompting an inquiry into the incident by the education department.
Parents of the boy expressed anger against the teacher for corporal punishment. They picked up an argument with the management of the school. They demanded an apology from the teacher and wanted Education officials to take stern action against the institution. They wanted the officials to revoke recognition of the school.
The officials said that a report would be submitted to the DEO by conducting a probe into the incident, soon. However, the incident raised concern over the lack of empathy in private school teachers among the parents.
