Teacher’s alleged misconduct with girl students is under scanner in ZPHS Papannapet
A Telugu teacher at a government school in Papannapet, Medak, is under scrutiny after around 15 girl students reportedly complained of inappropriate behaviour. Questions have also been raised over the inquiry team's alleged delay in submitting its report to district authorities
Medak: A government school teacher who teaches Telugu at the Zilla Parishad High School in Papannapet is under scrutiny over allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards girl students.
The teacher allegedly misbehaved with girl students of Classes IX and X, following which the students lodged a complaint by calling the Childline helpline, 1098. A couple of days later, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Nagaraju deputed a team to inquire into the matter.
Although around 15 girl students reportedly complained to the inquiry team about the teacher’s objectionable behaviour, the committee had not submitted a report on the issue to senior officials or the District Collector until Monday. The committee is now preparing to submit its report.
The allegations against the Telugu teacher came to light after women teachers at the school conducted a session on good touch and bad touch for the girl students on the school premises on August 7. As several students made similar complaints, the women teachers brought the matter to the notice of headmaster Maheshwar, who was on leave that day.
After a series of holidays, the school reopened on August 11, when the students lodged a complaint. However, the conduct of the inquiry team has also raised questions as it reportedly delayed submitting its report for nearly 20 days after the complaint was lodged.
Collector Prathima Singh reportedly took a serious view of the matter and is expected to take action against the teacher and the inquiry committee on Monday or Tuesday.
