Hyderabad: Teacher MLC Pingili Sripal Reddy warned the State government that protests would be organised by teachers, employees, and pensioners if it does not implement the promises, including pay revision and health cards, by June 2.

Speaking at the PRTUTS executive committee meeting held here on Thursday, Sripal Reddy said the Congress party had made several assurances to employees and teachers in its election manifesto, but most of them remain unfulfilled even after two-and-a-half years.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, according to Sripal Reddy, had recently assured the employees and teachers joint action committee that pay revision and health cards would be implemented from June 2. The Chief Minister had also promised to clear pending dues of retired employees within 100 days, he added.

PRTUTS president Pulgam Damodar Reddy called upon members to make the upcoming membership drive a success. He said membership expansion was vital for strengthening the union, which has nearly 72,000 members, the largest teachers’ association in the State. Union general secretary Sunkari Biksham Goud, former MLC Mohan Reddy, and former president P Venkata Reddy, among others, also participated in the meeting.
