Karimnagar: Some unscrupulous persons working as teachers were allegedly producing fake medical certificates to get choice postings in the district, taking advantage of privileges bestowed on those suffering from ailments. All districts have speeded up the distribution of staff among the new districts as well as the zonal system by implementing GO 317.

Though the process was delayed in the district due to the model code of MLC elections, it gathered momentum after the election. The district administration has accepted priority option forms from employees. If the distribution of employees among new districts is completed, employees have to migrate to new places. To avoid transfer to other areas, some of the teachers have allegedly produced fake medical certificates by utilising options in the GO and submitted on Thursday, which was the last day to submit option forms.

According to the GO, employees who underwent neurosurgery, kidney transplantation, liver transplantation and open heart surgery would be given exemption from transfers. Employees with a disability of 70% or more could avail themselves of the provision under the Person With Disabilities Act 1995. Employees having mentally retarded children can be posted in a place where medical facilities are available.

However, speaking to Telangana Today, Progressive Recognized Teachers’ Union, district president, Musku Thirupathi Reddy, denied the allegation. Earlier, teachers used to produce fake certificates when more exemptions were available. However, there are only few options in the GO to get benefits under medical grounds. So, there was no scope to produce fake medical certificates, he said.
