Techie from Khammam wins Rs 240 crore lottery in UAE
Bolla Anil Kumar, an IT professional from Khammam district working in Abu Dhabi, won Rs 240 crore in a UAE lottery. The jackpot has made him a local hero, with villagers thronging his home to congratulate his overjoyed family.
Khammam: The parents of a youngster from Khammam are on cloud nine after their son won Rs 240 crore in the UAE lottery recently.
An IT professional, Bolla Anil Kumar, who was working in Abu Dhabi, won the jackpot of 100 million United Arab Emirates Dirham (Rs 240 crore) in a lucky draw held on October 18. He belongs to Bhimavaram village in Vemsoor mandal of Khammam district.
As the lottery brought luck to the young man born in an ordinary family, he became a celebrity overnight in the village. Villagers are making a beeline to congratulate the family. Anil Kumar’s parents, Bolla Madhava Rao and Bhulakshmi, told the media that they were overjoyed to hear the news of their son’s win and described it as God’s grace. They said they did not know what their son planned to do with the money he had won.
Madhava Rao said his son studied in a government school at Bhimavaram, completed his polytechnic in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, and later obtained a BTech degree in Hyderabad. While working in Hyderabad, he got a job in the UAE and moved there two years ago.
Anil Kumar bought the lottery ticket using his mother’s date of birth as the lucky number. Madhava Rao, a farmer, has two sons—Subramanyam and Anil Kumar, the younger one. Madhava Rao’s brother Narsimha Rao said Anil Kumar’s lottery win has brought immense joy to the family, and relatives have been making phone calls to enquire and congratulate them.
He added that Anil Kumar is a hardworking person, and whenever he comes to the village on holidays, he works in the agricultural fields. The villagers are now treating the family with more respect following the lottery win. Anil Kumar told the UAE media that he plans to buy a supercar and celebrate the moment at a resort or a seven-star hotel. He also wants to bring his family to the UAE to stay with him and fulfil the dreams of his parents.
