Hyderabad: A former software employee, who took up burglaries and chain snatchings and planned the same using techniques he learned on the internet, was nabbed by the Malkajgiri Central Crime Station police and the Jawaharnagar police here on Friday.
K. Sandeep Chary, 22, a resident of Balajinagar in Jawaharnagar, was allegedly involved in half-a-dozen chain snatchings, with police recovering gold worth Rs.4 lakh from him.
According to the police, Chary, who had earlier set up a mobile phone store in a partnership, ran into losses and failed to repay loans. The consequent financial constraints are said to have prompted him to think of devious ways to make money, for which he decided to commit burglaries and chain snatchings.
“He intensively surfed on the internet and got ideas and techniques on how to commit chain snatchings on motorcycles,” an official said, adding that he targeted women walking alone in secluded residential colonies.
He allegedly committed six offences in Balajinagar under Jawaharnagar police limits so far. He was earlier arrested and jailed in a similar case.
