Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A teenage boy drowned in a pond while playing near it at Chedwai village on Tuesday evening. His body was traced and retrieved from the pond on Wednesday. Police said Dobe Mahesh (13), the only son of Rajitha, a widow from Areguda village, met a watery grave in the pond. He was visiting his grandparents at the time of the incident.

Mahesh had been missing from his grandparents’ home since 5 pm on Tuesday. His grandparents and mother searched for him everywhere, but in vain. His body was found in the pond, formed due to excavation of gravel on the village outskirts. He is suspected to have slipped into the pond while playing on its banks. He was accompanied by two children, who were being questioned by police.

Mahesh’s father, Santosh, who was addicted to liquor, had died three months ago. Based on a complaint received from Rajitha, a case was registered. Investigations are on.
