Teen drowns in Peddavagu rivulet, two friends rescued in Asifabad
A 17-year-old boy tragically drowned in the Peddavagu rivulet near Asifabad while swimming with friends on Sunday. The authorities have launched an investigation following a complaint from the victim’s father.

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A 17-year-old boy drowned in the Peddavagu rivulet near Asifabad on Sunday, while two of his friends were rescued by a tractor driver. His body was later retrieved from the stream.
Police said Shaik Mahabub of Asifabad town, along with his friends Ayan and Rehan, entered the rivulet to take a dip. As they were swept away by the current, a tractor driver nearby rushed to their rescue and managed to bring Ayan and Rehan ashore after hearing their cries for help.
On receiving information, police reached the spot and deployed expert divers to trace Mahabub. His body was recovered about 500 metres downstream from the site of the incident.
A case was registered following a complaint lodged by the victim’s father. The investigation is under way.
In another incident in Sangareddy, a 30-year-old man, identified as Mohammed Lathif of Narayankhed, was feared drowned while fishing in a lake at Kamalapur in Manoor mandal on Sunday.
Lathif, along with his friends Mohammad, Sudhir, Sandeep and Adnan, had gone to the lake for fishing when he accidentally slipped into the water. The others immediately alerted local officials, who launched a rescue operation to trace him.
