Nirmal: A 13-year-old boy sustained over 50 per cent of burns when he accidentally came in contact with a high-tension power line while he was flying a kite in Bhainsa town on Monday.
His condition is learned to be critical. A video of the boy with the injuries went viral on social media platforms on Tuesday.
Bhainsa police and locals said that the boy, Abhilash, is the son of Gangadhar from Rahulnagar of the town.
Abhilash, who was flying kites with his friends, suffered burn injuries all over his body when he used an iron pipe to retrieve a kite stuck to a 33/11 KV powerline running atop his residence, that conducted the electricity.
He was immediately shifted to a hospital in Nizamabad, where his medical condition is said to be serious.
In the video clip, the injured boy was seen on the roof of his house, crying for help. His father Gangadhar and another person managed to bring down Abhilash from the terrace and rushed him to the hospital.
The heart-wrenching video was widely shared on WhatsApp groups. Users of the instant messaging application sought members of the groups to watch out for their children flying kites.
