Hyderabad: A teenaged boy died while his sister was injured when the motorcycle they were riding on crashed into an electricity pole and fell into the canal of an agricultural land on the roadside in Shamirpet here on Sunday afternoon.

B Chandu (16), a class nine student, and his sister Kavya (17), an intermediate student, residents of Shamirpet of Medchal-Malkajgiri district, were proceeding on the bike from Bommarasipet village towards Jaganguda when the mishap occurred around 1 pm, the police said.

When they reached near J Prabhakar Reddy Farms, Chandu who was driving the bike lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the electricity pole on the roadside.

“After hitting the pole, they both fell into the canal located in the farm land on the roadside. Chandu suffered multiple grievous injuries on his face, shoulders and neck and died on the spot. His sister, who too was injured, was shifted to the hospital,” police said her condition was stable.

The Shamirpet police visited the spot and booked a case of negligence causing death and injuries and against the owner of the bike for allowing a minor to drive. The body was shifted to the Gandhi Hospital morgue for autopsy.
