Telanana youth must emulate Uday Nagarju to realise their dreams: Harish Rao

Former Minister T Harish Rao urged Telangana youngsters to draw inspiration from Uday Nagaraju’s journey from Shanigaram village to the UK House of Lords. At a felicitation programme in Siddipet, Nagaraju pledged to strengthen India-UK relations and address Telangana’s concerns

Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao called upon youngsters from Telangana to draw inspiration from the life and journey of Uday Nagaraju, who was elected to the House of Lords in the United Kingdom. Recalling his journey from Shanigaram village in Koheda mandal of Siddipet district, Rao said that Uday Nagaraju had set an example for others to follow with his inspiring journey.

Addressing the felicitation programme organised at Vipanchi Kalanilayam in Siddipet on Wednesday, Harish Rao said Uday, the first to get elected to the House from the Telugu states, made Telangana proud with his achievement. Stating that he had a long association with Uday for over two and a half decades, the former minister recalled the memories of his visit to Uday’s residence in the UK. Rao said that Uday also played his part in the Telangana movement by raising his voice for the cause.

Speaking after the felicitation, Uday Nagaraju termed the current period as a golden era for relations between India and the UK. Stating that he was part of the talks between the prime ministers of both countries held recently, Uday said that he would play his part in improving all kinds of relations between the countries. He said that both countries would also play a key role in resolving several issues in the world.

Uday assured that he would give utmost priority to issues pertaining to Telangana, apart from working for better relations between India and the UK. Uday also recalled his association with Shanigaram village and festivities such as Bathukamma celebrations, where all sections of people used to gather. As he had his education in Warangal and other towns, Uday said that he had always longed to visit Shanigaram during his childhood days. He thanked the people who backed him during his college days.
