Telangana: 17-year-old boy held for cheating Rs 50,000 on pretext of selling furniture
The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau apprehended a 17-year-old juvenile from Rajasthan for allegedly cheating a Nizamabad doctor. The boy posed as a CRPF constable on Facebook, collected Rs 50,000 as advance for furniture, and then disappeared
Hyderabad: The Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) on Tuesday apprehended a juvenile for allegedly cheating a man from Nizamabad on pretext of selling him furniture.
According to the police, the boy, aged 17 years and a resident of Alwar in Rajasthan, contacted a doctor from Nizamabad on Facebook and introduced himself as a CRPF constable. The scammer told the doctor that he was being transferred to another location and intends to sell his furniture for Rs 1.20 lakh. The deal was later fixed for Rs 80,000.
“The juvenile collected Rs 50,000 as advance from the doctor and later stopped communication with him,” said TGCSB officials.
On a complaint, the police registered a case and apprehended the juvenile from Rajasthan.
