Telangana: 17-year-old girl allegedly dies by suicide in Khammam

A 17-year-old girl from an Odisha migrant family allegedly died by suicide by jumping from Prakash Nagar bridge over the Manair River in Khammam. Locals found the body, and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Khammam: A seventeen year old girl of an Odisha family allegedly died by suicide by jumping from the bridge across river Manair here on Friday.

The incident which took place at Prakash Nagar bridge on the main road leading from Venkatagiri towards Khammam under Yedulapuram municipality area has caused a stir. The locals who found the body informed the police.


The police arrived at the scene and shifted the body to the mortuary. The girl belongs to a family of labourers who migrated to Khammam from Odisha to work in brick kilns. The girl was said to have taken the extreme step after being admonished by parents as she was spending more time with mobile phone.
