Hyderabad: At least 20,483 tanks in several parts of the State received surplus water during this monsoon, officials of Irrigation department said on Sunday.
In the tank filling status report as on September 9, as many as 20,483 of the 43,870 tanks under jurisdiction of 19 Chief Engineers and Engineer-in-Chiefs received surplus water while 12,255 tanks were filled up to 75 per cent to 100 per cent and 4,994 were filled up to 50 per cent to 75 per cent.
Out of 20,483 tanks, 3,242 water tanks in Gajwel got surplus water while 2,271 in Warangal and 1,880 in Karimnagar got surplus water. However, 2,776 tanks including 741 in Hyderabad while 562 in Mahbubnagar and 500 in Wanaparthy were filled up to zero to 25 per cent only.
