Kothagudem: Khammam excise enforcement team has seized dry ganja worth Rs 1 crore and arrested one person at Bhadrachalam in the district on Saturday. Excise Inspector of Police (CI) Surveshwar speaking to the media at Bhadrachalam informed that vehicle inspection was conducted at different places in Bhadrachalam town to check ganja smuggling.
A mini carriage vehicle was found moving suspiciously and when checking the vehicle nearly 600 kg dry marijuana packed in 300 packets hidden beneath a load of onions was found, he said. The vehicle driver Rathod Laxman was arrested and a case was registered against him. He was smuggling the substance from Odisha to Bidar in Karnataka. The accused was handed over to the local excise police station for further action, Surveshwar informed.
SI Mubhashir Ahmed, head constables Kareem, Balu, constables Sudhir, Harish, Venkatesh and Vijay participated in the seizure. Khammam Excise Deputy Commissioner Anjan Rao and AES Kiran appreciated the team for seizing the ganja.
