Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted raids on an inter-State Transport department check-post at Wankidi and unaccounted cash of Rs 45,000 from officials manning the check-post late on Wednesday night.
The ACB raid was conducted following allegations that transport officials were extracting bribes from vehicle owners passing through the check post. The officials have reportedly seized unaccounted cash of Rs 45,000 from a Motor Vehicle Inspector during the raids.
The transport officials were alleged to have hired private persons to collect bribes from the drivers of the goods carriers and other vehicles passing the check-post every day. They are reportedly earning huge sums by way of bribes. Officials are competing to be posted at the check-post considering the scope for bribes.
However, officials of the ACB are yet to make a statement with regard to the raids.
In December, the sleuths of ACB seized unaccounted cash of Rs 62,500 from the office of an inter-state check-post at Bhoraj in Adilabad district recently. The sleuths seized unaccounted cash Rs 11,630 at the same check-post in May.
