Suryapet: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Monday said that crime against women was brought down in the state by ensuring early and stringent punishment to the accused in the cases. Laying foundation stone for Sakshi Centre building, which was taken up with Rs 50 lakh at Kudakuda on the outskirts of Suryapet, Jagadish Reddy said that the state government has accorded top priority for safety and security of the women and girls. SHE teams, an initiative of the State government, has become a role model to the country in women safety. The officials teams of other states have also visited Telangana to study SHE teams and the steps taken up by our government on checking the crime against the women, he added.
He said that the effective police investigation has ensured stringent punishment to the accused in the crime against women that create a panic and desisted from indulging in such acts. Sakshi Centres, one stop solution centres, have also providing necessary medical, legal assistance and also shelter to the victims. He said that the victims should be encouraged towards self employment to make them to stand on their own legs. Suryapet municipal chairperson Perumalla Annapurnamma and officials of ICDS were also present.
