Hyderabad: After Backward Class leaders in the Congress openly expressing their displeasure at being sidelined, now leaders from the Mala community too are expressing unhappiness over the Congress leadership in the State over different issues, especially discrimination and suppression.

This is adding fuel to the already widening differences among Congress leaders on caste lines. Congress MLC C Naveen has been vocal against the Congress government, particularly over the alleged domination of Reddy community leaders, besides discrimination towards the BC community and its leaders.

Taking serious view of his comments, the party leadership did not permit him to attend Rahul Gandhi’s state level consultation on the caste census held last week. Not content with this, a section of leaders have raised objections over the Congress MLCs observations and wanted him to mend his ways.

Now, Chennur MLA Vivek Venkatswamy has also expressed unhappiness over the discrimination towards Mala community. In a veiled attack on the State leadership, he made his intentions very clear.

Speaking at a programme organized by the Mala Sangham in Nizamabad on Sunday, the Chennur MLA said discrimination towards Mala community leaders was rampant in all political parties. All attempts were continuing to disrespect Mala community and its leaders at different junctures, he had said.

“Time has come for the Mala community leaders to raise their voice against the suppression and discrimination and fight for their rights,” he had said, also appealing to the community leaders and people to turn up in large numbers for the Malala Atmiya Sammelan to be held in Hyderabad on December 1.

It may be noted that Vivek was eyeing a berth in the State cabinet expansion, which has been due for a long time. However, Mancherial MLA Premsagar Rao is also insisting for a berth and has strongly pitched his candidature before the TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud during the district level party review meeting held recently at Gandhi Bhavan.

Taking serious objections over the SC sub categorization, the Chennur MLA charged that Madigas had presented false statistics and figures and influenced the Central government for SC sub categorization.

“The issue was raised before Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. All the Mala community MLAs had strongly demanded the State government not to extend support for SC sub categorization,” Vivek added.
