Hyderabad: Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu said the Telangana government was making planned efforts to connect local industries with global supply chains and develop every district into an economic growth centre.
Addressing the ‘Mega Free Trade Agreements (FTA) Outreach Programme’ at T-Hub here on Monday, the Minister said exports would play a crucial role in achieving India’s long-term economic ambitions.
He said the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) being concluded by India with various countries were opening up opportunities for domestic industries to access international markets. The State government would guide industries and exporters, particularly Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), on understanding and making effective use of these trade opportunities, he said.
“Our objective is to ensure that ‘Made in Telangana’ products reach all countries with which India has entered into FTA partnerships,” Sridhar Babu said.
He said the government was working to identify products specific to each district and promote their manufacturing, processing and exports. This would strengthen local industrial ecosystems and create new opportunities for economic growth and employment across districts.
The Minister also stressed the need to identify surplus agricultural produce after meeting domestic requirements and channel it into export markets instead of allowing valuable produce to go to waste.
