Hyderabad: Telangana is all set to achieve 100 per cent Covid vaccination mark, i.e., administering first and second dose of vaccines to the entire eligible beneficiaries above 18 years of age, in the next few days. Launched last year on March 16, it took nearly nine months for authorities to achieve 100 per cent coverage of the first dose. The full coverage of the second dose of the Covid vaccine among the beneficiaries is expected to be completed this month.

By achieving 100 per cent coverage of the first dose, Telangana became the first among larger Indian states to have administered the first dose to all beneficiaries aged 18 and above. When compared to the national percentage, the Covid vaccination coverage in Telangana is also quite high. The first dose coverage of the Covid vaccine in Telangana is 106 per cent as against the national average of 95 per cent while the second dose coverage in State is 96 per cent, which is quite high when compared to the national average of 89 per cent.

At present, of the eligible 2,77,67,000 persons above 18 years of age, the government and private Covid vaccination centres in Telangana have administered 2,93,52,699 first dose, which is 106 per cent. The vaccine centres have so far administered 2,68,83,708 second doses to the eligible population, which is about 97 per cent.

Including beneficiaries above 18 years of age, precautionary doses of Covid vaccine to senior citizens with co-morbidities and adolescents between 15 years and 17 years of age, the private and government Covid vaccine centres have administered 5.94 crore doses.
