Hyderabad: Telangana will receive 10.26 TMC of water from Krishna basin projects – Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar – to meet its needs during summer. Andhra Pradesh which has already exhausted its entitlement for the current water year, was, however, allotted four TMC.

In response to summer water indents made by both the Telugu States, the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) issued orders to release 14.26 TMC of water from the Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar projects with immediate effect. The board has specified that water can be utilised up to 800 feet in Srisailam and 505 feet in Nagarjuna Sagar project. For Andhra Pradesh’s requirements, water will be released from the Nagarjuna Sagar Right Canal at a rate of 5,500 cusecs per day.

The orders also emphasize maintaining a minimum water level of 800 feet in Srisailam until the end of July.
