Hyderabad: The State government on Tuesday issued orders permitting the absorption of PG (Post Graduate) qualified doctors into the Directorate of Medical Education (DME).

According to Memo No.1160/A/2026-1, dated April 2, 2026, the Health, Medical and Family Welfare (A) Department has accorded permission to the DME to integrate PG doctors currently serving under the Directorate of Public Health and Family Welfare and the Commissioner, Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP).

The decision stipulates that permission is granted for doctors who are qualified in their respective specialties. The absorption will take place as and when the medical professionals become fully qualified and have formally submitted their willingness to join the DME.

The administrative action follows specific recommendations from the Director of Medical Education (DME). The decision to absorb PG qualified doctors into the DME is expected to streamline the placement of specialists within teaching hospitals and medical colleges across Telangana.

Following the development, the Telangana Public Health Doctors Association (TPHDA) thanked the State government for the decision.
